Fabrics, linen & haberdashery...

a selection of gorgeous retro and vintage fabrics,linens and haberdashery, from top names such as Heals and the Designers Guild to simple home embroidered linens from the 30s and 40s.

All linens have been laundered and pressed unless otherwise stated and any flaws or faults will be described. I have based my condition descriptions on:
Excellent - no rips or tears and no visible staining
Very Good - possible wear, and/or very small marks or laundry marks.
Good - small tears or holes and/or discolouration.
But please bear in mind, that these are my descriptions, if you are in any doubt at all, please do not hesitate to ask for more details.

Vintage nylon ribbon reels
These great old reels contain British made nylon ribbon in a pale lemony cream colour.I guess they date from the 50s. Each reel originally contained 36 yards of 3/8 inch wide, but each roll has had some removed. I cannot guarantee the amounts left, but would guess at over 20 yards on each. You can either buy one roll at a cost of £3 or all 4 rolls at a cost of £10

Vintage narrow curtain tape, original packing
Great narrow cotton curtain heading tape in the original Woolworths packet. The packet contains 3.74m / 4.10yds

Retro circle design curtain, orange and brown - L57
This single curtain is in classic retro colours of brown, yellow and orange. It has the original narrow yellow heading tape at the top. The hem has been let down so that the whole curtain measures 45 inches wide and 68 inches long. In good condition with some rubbing where the hem was turned, and a slight flaw in the fabric near the edge which can be seen in the close up picture (link below). Ideal fabric for re-working.

Pair of retro curtains, cream and brown - circa 60s - L55
Gorgeous pair of curtains in excellent condition and with a lovely design. The background is cream with slashes of brown, the fabric is a synthetic. Both curtains have the original thin heading tape, and they have also had linings hand sewn to them. The linings are faded but have kept the main fabric safe from fading. In excellent condition and with a very attractive design. Each curtain measures 94 inches wide and 62 inches long.

Designers Guild fabric 'Grata' 1987 - L50
A fabulous glazed cotton from Tricia Guild in a bold check tartan pattern, the design of which is 'Grata' from 1987. Measuring 54 inches wide. This fabric is unused and in excellent condition. Sold by the metre up to a maximum of 9 metres

A pretty white cloth with scalloped edge and dainty embroidery, ideal for a table or dresser. In excellent condition it measures 38.5 inches long

1960s fabric pieces by Heals designer Janet Taylor - Lamina - L29
Two pieces of fabulous Heals screen printed fabric. The pattern name is 'Lamina' and was designed by one of Heals well known designers, Janet Taylor. The main colour being red with hints of orange. Each piece measure 23 inches x 23.5 inches, although one piece has had a small strip cut off and the usable width on this section is 22.5 inches. They have not been laundered and are in excellent clean unused condition with original price tag on each piece of 3s6d .

1970's pair of curtains in glossy gold and mustard - L54 Fab pair of shiney curtains in gold and mustard yellow. In very good condition with a couple of very small pale marks, that are not noticable when hung. The tops of each curtain have the original narrow heading tape also in yellow. Each curtain measures 45 inches wide and 72 inches long.

Vintage checks and baskets fabric - L12
Lovely piece of vintage fabric with a soft handle (possibly viscose or rayon). The design is alternating squares 1.25 inches in diameter of red checks and flower baskets. Looks to be 50's or 60's style. This piece of fabric measures 39 inches wide and 27 inches long. In excellent condition, no fading, no holes or tears and the selvedges are intact.

1970s Brown floral fabric
A great piece of unused fabric. Furnishing quality and weight, seems to be mixed fibres. Great for cushions or small curtains. The fabric is in excellent condition and measures 49 inches wide and 74 inches long

Gorgeous floral design curtains in fibreglass. Some slight fading to one edge of each curtain, but still lovely. Each curtain measures 44 inches wide by 90 inches long

Retro late 80s new Dunhill 'Tango' fabric length - almost 6 metres - L28
A soft and restful design Dunhill fabric called 'Tango' , dating to 1987. It is a sateen Scotchguarded cotton with screen printed design on pale grey of pale pink roses intersected with pink, grey and white lines ( reminiscent of Rennie Macintosh designs).It measures 56 inches wide and 190 inches long (4.85m). In excellent and clean condition, with a slight small flaw 28inchs up and a third of the way across, this fabric has not been laundered or pressed. As an added bonus I will add for FREE another piece that has been cut off which is 36 inchs long.

Retro 60s Crimplene fabric length - L26
Gorgeous powder blue crimplene (kitted polyester fabric) dating from the early 60s. This fabric length is new and unused and I have included free a matching retro nylon zip and matching thread. Everything you need to make a fab retro garment. The fabric has a slight slub and 4 way stretch. It measures 66 inches wide and 64 inches long. In excellent condition.

Vintage hand beaded collar and cuffs set
A lovely set of hand beaded collar and cuffs. These have been removed from a garment at some time and a couple of the bugle beads are missing and some are loose, but easily repairable. The cotton backing is in good condition, and overall a really lovely set in black and ivory. Collar is in 3 sections.

New never been used cotton fabric length. An unusual fabric in a pink lace effect with shell design, quite a good weight fabric. A good size for curtaining, it measures 36 inches wide and 80 inches long. In excellent condition.

Unused set of 4 table napkins/serviettes with rings - L53
A really fab retro set of napkins and stainless steel napkin rings from the 1980s. The napkins thenselves are in a linen mix fabric and in very vibrant colours of orange, red, blue, brown. The stainless steel napkin rings just finish the set nicely. In excellent unused condition and have not been laundered. Napkins measure 11 inches square.
